Douglas M. Thomas
Douglas M. Thomas joined Atlas and Hudon, LLP in 2010. His primary areas of practice include business law, employment law, franchise law and probate. He has been trained as a mediator and served as a Special Mediator with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities in discrimination matters. Prior to joining the firm, Doug was co-owner and counsel for a successful luxury car dealership in Hartford. He has also practiced as a commercial litigator and as a criminal prosecutor. Doug is peer-rated AV ® by Martindale-Hubbell.
Doug has been a resident of West Hartford, Connecticut for nearly forty years. During that time he has served on the boards of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, the Metro Hartford Alliance, the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut and The Hartt School at the University of Hartford. He has a long association with the Connecticut Automotive Retailers Association (CARA), as a Board Member and past President, and has been a regular contributor to CARA newsletters and as a featured speaker on dealer franchise and employment issues. Doug has also worked with a number of nonprofit organizations focused on meeting the developmental needs of children.
Doug is a member of the Hartford County and the Connecticut Bar Associations. He serves on the Executive Committee of the CBA’s Franchise, Distribution & Dealer Law Section. He has been admitted to practice in Connecticut, Virginia, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut. He is a graduate of Washington and Lee University (B.A., 1974; J.D., 1977).
